Anyhow, the first of at least 2 launches this month is the much-changed, new website for Lubstock for 2013.

25 Free Business Directories that Provide Backlinks

This is simple, and just takes a bit of time, but getting backlinks to your website is a pretty key aspect of improving your ranking. So here are some business directories you may of heard of and some you certainly won’t. What’s all best is that all 25 are FREE to backlink to your site.

A couple of tips:

1. Make sure you search for your business before you create a new listing:

A – it saves time, so if you’re already listed, just claim the exising listing and modify it
B – it avoids duplication of content which may have a negative impact and cause confusion

2. You can often add summaries and alternative snippets that aren’t possible via other link mechanisms

Case Study – Princess Caroline – Website Redesign

The new Princess Caroline website redesign was launched this week.

As a business looking to rank well on Google and differentiate itself from other event venues in the party, wedding and corporate markets they wanted to stand out from the crowd.

The old Princess Caroline site had served them well, but was begining to look tired and needed a design refresh. Also, we’d noticed that over 25% of their visitors were using mobile or non-desktop devices.

Responsive Design

Consequently we decided to make sure that the website redesign included responsive styling so that the content would work well whatever device was used to view it. Furthermore the owners took the initiative and added meter square QR codes to the side of the ship so that anyone passing could scan the codes from distance and get straight into a mobile friendly version of the site.

The Old Website

The old website worked extremely well and accounted for a significant amount of organic search traffic, but as a static html site it required effort to update and the owners couldn’t do this themselves. Also the design was difficult to view on devices with smaller screens.

The New Website

We designed the new website based on WordPress to offer a number of key features and attributes:

Responsive design for mobile and tablet devices
Simple and intuitive user interface
Interactive user elements
Content Management (CMS) so that the owners could update the site themselves
All old urls given 301 redirects to maintain SEO rankings
New attractive design

The results are a highly attractive new website design that is both visually appealing and extremely easy to navigate. It also works perfectly on any internet connected device, small or large.

Google Doodle – Alan Turing Solution – All 12 puzzles

Saturday, having a lazy start to the day, so I really enjoyed today’s Google Doodle puzzle which celebrated the 100th anniversary of Alan Turing’s birth.

I discovered, that if you completed the first set of puzzles and refreshed the Google Doodle, that there were a second set which were just a bit more taxing.
